GSI Expands O&M Services Across 280+ Projects in the MENA Region

Green Sources Investment strengthens its Operations & Maintenance division, offering comprehensive long-term asset management services to solar plant owners across Jordan, the UAE, and Africa.

Green Sources Investment (GSI) has announced a significant expansion of its Operations & Maintenance (O&M) division, extending comprehensive long-term asset management services to solar plant owners across its operating markets in Jordan, the UAE, and sub-Saharan Africa.

Why O&M Matters

A solar photovoltaic plant is a long-duration infrastructure asset with a design life of 25 years or more. The financial returns of any solar investment depend not only on the quality of the initial EPC work, but on the effectiveness of the O&M programme that follows. Poorly maintained plants suffer from accelerating performance degradation, undetected faults, and shortened equipment life — all of which erode investor returns and increase the levelised cost of energy.

GSI's expanded O&M offering is built on the same engineering rigour and operational discipline that has defined the company's EPC work for 15 years.

What GSI O&M Covers

Preventive Maintenance

Scheduled preventive maintenance visits are calibrated to the specific environmental conditions of each site. In Jordan's desert highlands, dust accumulation is the primary performance driver — our cleaning schedules are optimised based on soiling rate data collected at each plant. In coastal environments such as Aqaba, salt deposition and corrosion management take priority.

Preventive maintenance activities include:

  • Panel cleaning — manual or semi-automated, with water quality management to prevent mineral deposition
  • Electrical inspections — thermographic scanning of DC strings, combiner boxes, and inverter connections to identify hotspots before they cause failures
  • Mechanical inspections — torque checks on mounting hardware, tracker drive units, and cable management systems
  • Inverter servicing — filter cleaning, firmware updates, and performance verification
  • Civil and drainage inspections — ensuring site drainage, fencing, and access roads remain in good condition

Remote Monitoring and Performance Management

All GSI O&M contracts include integration with our SCADA-based remote monitoring platform, which provides:

  • Real-time generation data — plant output, specific yield, and performance ratio tracked continuously
  • String-level monitoring — rapid identification of underperforming strings, enabling targeted maintenance interventions
  • Automated fault alerts — immediate notification of inverter trips, communication failures, and significant performance deviations
  • Monthly performance reports — detailed analysis of energy generation, losses, and maintenance activities delivered to asset owners

Corrective Maintenance

When faults occur, response time is critical. GSI maintains dedicated O&M field teams in Jordan and the UAE, with target response times of 24 hours for critical faults and 72 hours for non-critical issues. Our spare parts inventory is managed to ensure common replacement components — fuses, string inverters, monitoring equipment — are available for rapid deployment.

Long-Term Asset Management

For institutional investors and independent power producers managing multi-site portfolios, GSI offers a comprehensive asset management service that goes beyond technical O&M to include:

  • Financial performance reporting — actual vs. projected generation, revenue tracking, and budget management
  • Warranty management — tracking and enforcing equipment warranties on behalf of the asset owner
  • Insurance support — technical documentation for insurance claims and annual insurance inspections
  • End-of-life planning — assessment of repowering opportunities and equipment replacement strategies as plants approach the end of their initial design life

GSI's O&M Portfolio

GSI currently provides O&M services across a portfolio spanning more than 280 projects and 470+ MWp of installed capacity. This scale gives our O&M teams unparalleled familiarity with the performance characteristics of solar assets in MENA conditions, and enables us to benchmark individual plant performance against a broad regional dataset.

The GSI Difference

What sets GSI's O&M offering apart is the continuity between our EPC and O&M teams. When GSI builds a plant, the engineering knowledge, as-built documentation, and commissioning data are transferred directly to the O&M team — eliminating the knowledge gaps that often arise when EPC and O&M are handled by different organisations.

"We built these plants, and we know them better than anyone," said GSI's O&M Director. "That knowledge translates directly into faster fault diagnosis, more effective preventive maintenance, and better long-term performance for our clients."
