Chad Solar Project: Bringing Clean Energy to Sub-Saharan Africa

Green Sources Investment has completed a landmark solar energy project in Chad, marking a major step in the company's strategic expansion across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Access to reliable electricity remains one of the most pressing development challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa. Chad, with an electrification rate among the lowest in the world, represents both a significant need and an opportunity for renewable energy solutions that can leapfrog traditional grid infrastructure.

GSI was engaged to design, procure, and construct a solar power facility that would deliver reliable, clean electricity to communities that have historically relied on expensive and polluting diesel generators.

The Chad project involved:

• System Design: Custom engineering adapted for Chad's extreme climate conditions, including high temperatures, dust, and seasonal variations
• Equipment Procurement: High-efficiency monocrystalline solar panels, robust inverters, and battery storage systems sourced from certified international suppliers
• Civil Works: Foundation construction, mounting structure installation, and site preparation in challenging terrain
• Electrical Works: MV/LV electrical systems, protection equipment, and grid connection infrastructure
• Commissioning: Full system testing, performance verification, and handover to local operators

Working in Chad presented unique logistical and technical challenges. GSI's experienced project team developed innovative solutions for:
